   They are only comparable in the sense that the media has a big sway. North Vietnam never won a battle and neither have the insurgents in Iraq. the way we lost was through the media. America alone lost 58,000 troops from ‘59 to ‘75. The Vietnamese lost over a million. North Vietnam was backed heavily and funded by the Chinese. Although it is alleged by some parties that Iran is helping the insurgents, it would hardly be to the scale of the Vietnam War.

   There are innumerable differences between the conflicts. The things I can see that they have in common are:
   -U.S. involvement was preemptive
   -Both are controversial
   -Both have/had no definite end in the near future
